K2 | Single Leg Squat - Alignment Test

K2 | Single Leg Squat - Alignment Test

EXERCISE USE

This test is used for following an ACL, knee surgery and any ankle or knee injury when you have instability, or poor hip strength. It will test to see if you can keep you knee in line if you don't move you hips into much flexion. This is important when you ar abotu to enter into single leg squatting type exercises for knee control and single sided strength.

INSTRUCTIONS

Stand on the side of a box on one leg, with your other leg off the box in mid-air. Without flexing at the hips, bend your knee that you are standing on so you other leg lowers to the floor and then return. You are trying to keep you knee inline with your foot, so your knee cap in directly over the middle of your foot. You should be able to see you big toe and your 5th toe. If you knee crosses over your big toe inwards, this is a fail.
