To improve the external rotation component in the shoulder joint / capsule through passive flexion ROM. Particularly important after frozen shoulder or where a loss of external rotation is evident when you raise your arm and you are only allowed passive external movement not active (e.g. post-surgical)
Demonstration and Instructions
Hold the injured arm firmly on the forearm with the other hand - just above the wrist. Grip it in a way that you twist/torque the forearm into neutral at 0 deg. Then at the same time lift the injured arm through flexion to 90 degrees. Keep the twist on the forearm constant so you don't lose the 0 deg position of the forearm.
Special Notes
Don't aim to go higher if you start loss the neutral position. Only go to what pain allows and your form is strict.
